This is the most classic question of job interviews. (Can you introduce yourself?) And many of us have already encountered this question. It may seem very simple, but it is very difficult to tell yourself to someone who doesn’t know you at all. With a single answer, you must reveal your entire professional life. How can you explain that position is appropriate for your experience and personality? In a few minutes!
We often think it’s a routine question. This question actually gives a very important direction to the course of the interview. It’s an open-ended question. Therefore, the way the candidates express themselves makes it easier to analyze. So, the question of introducing yourself is an important opportunity for the process to proceed positively.
That’s why we’ve put together a few tricks to make this first step easier;
Do your research
The criteria that determine the recruitment decision are technical skills and the second is the cultural structure of the person. So, it is very important that your personalities and values are in harmony with the company you are going to work with. Therefore, it is useful to determine these criteria before entering the interview.
Before the interview, take some time to learn about the position you are applying for. Also check the About Us section of the company website. So, you are prepared when you are asked about your past work experience. You can highlight your experience with common features in the field of the company.
Identify the three messages you want to give
How do you want the interviewer to take notes during the interview? If you go to the meeting by identifying the three affects you want to make, your work will be much easier. Two of the three messages you select should be in parallel with your first stage research. So, you can show how convenient you are for this job.
However, in your answers, you should not exaggerate adapting to the employee profile the company is looking for. It is more important to explain your competencies correctly than to give good answers.
Create your own story
We assume that you have identified the three affects you want to make on the other person. Now you have to prepare the story that will fill what you say. Don’t get me wrong, we’re not talking about making up stories! Outline each message you want to send. Use your previous experience to create evidence on these lines. For example, the effect you want to bring forward is your passion for technology. You can talk about your work in this area or a project that your teachers like at school. We suggest that you prepare all three stories and then tell them in chronological order. Thus, the recruitment specialist can more easily assimilate what you tell.
It’s very important that you don’t hear things like a broken record. So you have to be confident when you talk. Practice to make fluent sentences. You can be more comfortable if you work out your answers at least once. In this sense, the only way to look confident is to practice. Also keep an eye on the clock while experimenting. After all, you’ll have to explain all this in no more than three minutes.
With such a strategy, you can do more than describe your CV when introducing yourself. The HR specialist has already looked at your resume before coming. This is a great opportunity to fill in your vacancies!
